Mentorship

The purpose of the Ghanaian-Diaspora Nursing Alliance (G-DNA) mentorship programme is to provide support and guidance for professional development to Ghanaian nurses in Ghana and the Diaspora

Description:

  • Promote personal and professional development: The mentorship programme will provide opportunities for mentees to explore their career aspirations and identify career paths. Mentors will guide career planning and access to professional development resources such as certifications, advanced training, or research opportunities.
  • Create a community of support and promote knowledge sharing: The programme will provide a safe and supportive space for nurses to share their knowledge and experiences, discuss challenges, seek advice, and maintain their overall well-being. Mentors can provide support and help mentees through stressful situations such as transitioning and settling in after migration among others. Mentors can also provide advice on navigating the new healthcare environment, understanding a new culture, and adjusting to new responsibilities.
  • Improve non-clinical skills: Mentors can help mentees develop essential non-clinical skills such as leadership, communication, customer service, and entrepreneurship as well as specific skills identified between mentor and mentee.
  • Building professional network: A mentor may provide resources for networking opportunities for professional advancement.

DURATION OF MENTORSHIP
The relationship is expected to last for six (6) months which can be extended on mutual agreement between mentor and mentee.
