Thomas Hinneh MScIH, BScN, RN

Thomas Hinneh MScIH, BScN, RN is Director of HI Foundation Ghana, Non-Governmental Organization creating awareness and screening for Hypertension and Diabetes Ghana. He has an over seven years of experience working with Ghana Health Service in varied capacities as Quality Assurance Manager, Deputy Nurse Manager and Head of Public Health among others. He has served a s a District Chairman of Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association 

Thomas holds a Master of Science degree in International Health from Heidelberg University, Germany and Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He has undergone advanced training in Global Chronic Conditions epidemiology focusing on Health Systems and Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. UK 

His research interests include hypertension, diabetes, quality healthcare practices, and building health system capacity to improve screening, diagnosis and management of hypertension and diabetes in primary health settings. In line with his research interest, Thomas was awarded a project grant by Pharmacist without Borders Germany to support hypertension management in four district hospitals in Ghana in 2020. 

In 2019, He was awarded the Chevening scholarship, the commonwealth shared Scholarships, The Australia Africa Awards and DAAD Development related Postgraduate programme scholarship funded by the Germany Government. He is a member of the international federation for diabetes, Links cardiovascular Health Professionals’ Group and the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association US.
