Dr. Daniel Apau, DNP, APRN, AGACNP-BC, ENB100, PG-Dip (Education), FHEA(UK)

Dr. Daniel Apau, DNP, APRN, AGACNP-BC, ENB100, PG-Dip (Education), FHEA(UK), is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care Medicine and Adjunct/Faculty at Lonestar College System in Houston.

Dr. Apau obtained a BSc in administration at the University of Ghana- Legon before moving to the UK, where he trained as RN, specializing in Intensive Care Nursing. He subsequently obtained his General Intensive Care Nursing Certification (ENB 100) and Teaching and Assessment in Clinical Practice (ENP 997/998) while in the ICU. As a charge Nurse in the ICU, Dr. Apau led the educational development of newly recruited nurses to the ICU and coordinated their professional development. Dr. Apau went on to undertake his Master of Science in Nursing at City, University of London, to become an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Apau has vast experience in several healthcare fields, including urgent care, primary care, community, and acute and critical care. In addition, Dr. Apau was a Course Director for the UK Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support Provider Courses and organized and instructed on courses nationally for the UK. 

Dr. Apau took up a post as Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice at City, University of London, and subsequently became the Program Director for the MSN Advanced Nurse Practitioner program at City. Dr. Apau holds a post-Graduate Diploma in Academic Practice (Education) and is a Fellow of the Higher Educational Academy in the UK. Dr. Apau is a compassionate teacher and has consistently achieved favorable student evaluations for teaching. He has a particular interest in curriculum development and clinical teaching.  

Following relocation to the USA, Dr. Apau obtained his post-master certificate in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner through the University of Texas   Health Science Center at Houston – Cizik School of Nursing. Dr. Apau completed his doctorate in nursing practice at Chatham University. He is passionate about advanced practice nursing and inspires the next generation of nurses by enthusing them with fun-filled, innovative pedagogical methods to improve the quality of care and patient safety. 

Dr. Apau’s passion for excellent global healthcare delivery has seen him engage with stakeholders globally in developing primary care in Africa. Outside of his busy schedule, Dr. Apau provides executive leadership to some Diaspora organizations and old students Alumni in giving back resources and support in developing the communities in Ghana.
