Biography
Harriet Obenewah Tegah, MSc, BSc, RN is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Leadership and Management at the University of Ghana Business School, with completion expected in June 2025. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Central University College (now Central University), earned in 2014.
Harriet began her nursing career at Nyaho Medical Centre, where she steadily rose through the ranks to become a Senior Nurse, mentoring junior nurses and supporting professional development within the team. In 2021, driven by a growing passion for diabetes care and management, she transitioned to the National Diabetes Management and Research Centre at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where she served as a Diabetes Nurse Educator.
In 2023, Harriet returned to Nyaho Medical Centre as the Nurse Manager for the Primary and Chronic Care Division at the main Airport branch. Within six months, she was promoted to oversee all five primary care locations under Nyaho Healthcare Limited, following her successful leadership of a task-shifting initiative aimed at improving customer experience across the facilities.
With extensive experience in both private and public healthcare systems in Ghana, Harriet has witnessed firsthand the significant health inequities that exist within the country—particularly in the public sector. These realities have shaped her mission to bridge the gap through education, mentorship, advocacy, and research, striving for a more equitable healthcare system in Ghana.
Harriet currently serves as a Research Assistant at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. She is preparing to pursue a Ph.D., with her research focused on diabetes care and the integration of telemedicine to improve health outcomes.
Beyond her professional commitments, Harriet is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys spending time at the gym. She also loves adventure and finds joy in exploring new experiences. Above all, she values spending quality time with her family and friends, which keeps her grounded and inspired.
